Cindy Light

Native Texan, Cindy Light actually grew up in Chicago, and got her first taste of great music from the local radio stations; absorbing influences from the Chicago blues scene.  After attending college in East Texas, she then made her way back to Austin. Meantime, she had already begun to shoot band photos in Chicago, but once back in Austin, she realized this was her true passion, and quickly embraced it. In her words, "So many people were asking me, why wasn’t I shooting professionally? Once I began working at a local radio station, I started to network like crazy. Soon I was ensconced in the local music scene, shooting for the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Ely, Doug Sahm, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and many more.  I was in the right place at the right time, and gradually building a solid portfolio." At one point, while at the radio station, a visitor from the well known stock photo agency, LGI, in NYC, noticed Cindy's images hanging in the foyer at KLBJ, and asked who took them. One thing led to another, and she was invited to show her portfolio at LGI. The meeting resulted in the agency immediately signing her on. "This was a great break that led to my now, also officially shooting touring bands. Assignments for the likes of Sting, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, etc., quickly led to a full time career in performance photography…and I never looked back!”
