We're proud to announce a very special night here at Modern Rocks Gallery with the legendary Austin photographer, Scott Newton.
The First Edition Reception will feature many of the #1 prints from our exclusive Scott Newton Archive limited edition collection, which will be available to buy on the night. We'll also have some prints available that aren't in the collection, so this is a unique opportunity to purchase the #1 print before they're added to the collection next year.
Scott will be in attendance, and we'll have complimentary drinks on offer while you enjoy the incredible photography that perfectly documents the early days of the Austin music scene.
If Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World,” Scott Newton is its official photographer. Newton’s work spans the early days of Austin’s Legendary Armadillo World Headquarters to chronicling performances as the official photographer for the world famous Austin City Limits show on PBS. Newton arrived in Austin just as the sleepy college town’s music scene was beginning to take off. From early shots taken in the early 1970s at the Armadillo World Headquarters to his career with Austin City Limits TV show and other concert photography, Newton has described himself as a phantom of the music venue, capturing musicians from the shadows backstage and during performances.
We would like to thank Dion at Jerry's Artrama in Austin for doing such an excellent job of framing Scott Newton's prints for the show.
