Native Texan, Hannah, spent 20 years photographing Austin's finest Jazz musicians. These beautiful, timeless portraits of Ephraim Owens and Pete Rodriguez are now available as signed limited edition prints from our East Austin gallery, and through website.
It's hard to believe but Modern Rocks Gallery opened its doors here in Austin 3 years ago today, and what an incredible journey its been. We've gone from a nervous first day with little promotion, to receiving international press and sending prints across the globe, all in a very short space of time.
Here's the image that started it all. I used to walk past this amazing shot of Tom Waits by Jill Furmanovsky every day on my way to work in a gallery in London. The seed was planted and I started to daydream of opening a rock photography gallery of my own on my tube ride across town. And here we are, 3 years later sending prints worldwide, and with my favorite photo sitting proudly above my couch at home!
Thanks for all your support over the last 3 years, it's been fun, but there's more fun to come with news of some very exciting new releases coming soon.
We were truly saddened to learn that the legendary photographer, Don Hunstein passed away a few days ago after a long battle with illness.
Don Hunstein had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He was the in-house photographer at Columbia Records shooting hundreds of album covers and documenting the recording sessions of many of the 20th Century’s most important musicians. He was a great photographer, equally skilled in large or small format, in black & white or color.
