Although most of his career has been defined by music, (as Bass Player in The Specials) Horace Panter graduated in 1975 with a degree in Fine Art from Coventry University. It was there where he met Jerry Dammers, and the concept of the punk/ska band was formed. Horace's influences are diverse and range from the Pop Art paraphernalia of artists such as Peter Blake, Andy Warhol, and Robert Indiana to the depictions of light in paintings by Edward Hopper and David Hockney. His giant cassette paintings show the cassette tape itself as an icon in terms of its place in musical and cultural history. His prints have been exhibited in the UK, New York, and LA, and now can be purchased as signed limited edition fine art prints.
