MARILYN MONROE - THE LOST LAST PHOTOGRAPHS
BY ALLAN GRANT
Allan Grant was a renowned LIFE magazine photographer whose lens captured both the glittering world of show business and the gravity of history’s defining moments.
In the summer of 1962, LIFE magazine sent two journalists to spend time with Marilyn Monroe—one to listen, one to look. Writer Richard Meryman conducted what would become her final interview, recorded 2 weeks prior to photographer Allan Grant arriving at her Brentwood (LA) home for what would be her last formal photo shoot and the only one at her new house.
Marilyn Monroe — The Lost Last Photographs presents fourteen prints selected from this extraordinary archive, now offered for sale for the first time. Each image is a primary document of one of the most iconic figures of the twentieth century, made in the final weeks of her life by one of LIFE magazine's most celebrated photographers. They are not constructed myth — they are an unfiltered record of a woman of remarkable complexity and grace, seen as she truly was.
