Tom Waits
Tom Waits is a legend in music and storytelling, known for his gravelly voice, experimental soundscapes, and vividly poetic lyrics. With a career spanning decades, Waits has seamlessly fused blues, jazz, rock, and avant-garde elements, creating a genre-defying body of work. Beyond his music, Waits is also a celebrated actor and cultural icon, whose influence resonates across generations of artists.

Photographer’s notes:
“Tom drove into town in a battered, sky-blue, Cadillac Coupe de Ville and loped into this Chinese diner wearing a mangled hat. He was clearly a regular because the owner greeted him warmly and the food was very good. He is reading a book called The Mammoth Book of Oddities by Frank O'Neil.'“
