Signed limited edition print of the Beastie Boys on stage by Dustin Rabin
Hello Nasty Tour at the PNE Coliseum in Vancouver – August 2, 1998.
Dustin recalls: My friend Fredo Ortiz who played percussion for Beastie Boys got me backstage for this show. When the band was walking to the stage, Mix Master Mike spotted me: “Yo, you’re Fredo's friend! I want you to take my picture tonight.” I told him to meet me after the show and he was like “No, I mean right now on stage!” He looked over and got the nod from their tour manager, and off we went. I remember picking up the film and looking at the contact sheets while walking back to my job at Sam The Record Man, and this one frame stopped me in my tracks. It might be the only picture I've ever taken where I can tell you exactly what line of a song it was when it happened, because Ad Rock is passin' the mic to Mike D... “C'mon and get some!”
Rolling Stone called me when they heard about these photos, and that’s how I found out I was the only photographer who shot from the stage on the Hello Nasty Tour. Thanks, Fredo and Mike!
