TICKETS PLEASE BY BLAISE HAYWARD - Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac, Western Springs Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand, November 1977
This concert was part of the band’s worldwide tour to support their blockbuster album Rumours that came out in February of that year. The tour was infamous for the booze, drugs and relationship breakdowns and hook-ups in the group. In Auckland, they played on a sweltering Sunday afternoon and took the stage almost 3 hours after the scheduled start time. The crowd was estimated to be well over the limit of 40,000 with some reporting it to be closer to 60,000. Mick Fleetwood broke a finger and the concert was briefly delayed while they taped his fingers together. They closed the show with ‘Songbird’ a Christine Mcvie classic.
